Founded by LOVERBOY….

In 1980 LOVERBOY introduced themselves to the world with their self-titled debut album. They quickly became one of America's and MTV's most popular rock bands. From 1980 through 1987 LOVERBOY garnered four multi-Platinum albums and numerous international Gold albums. Their tours sold out arenas and stadiums nationwide. Their hit singles came one after another, and went on to become the anthems and party songs of an entire generation of rock concert going fans. LOVERBOY’s red leather pants, bandannas, and big rock sound defined the band’s trademark image and high-energy live show.

In November of 2000, the band turned their high-energy to something completely different. On the news of their friend and band member’s son being diagnosed with juvenile (Type 1) diabetes, they made a decision to do whatever they could to help. Well, the rest is history. In honour of Paul Dean’s son Jake, on November 25, 2000, LOVERBOY & Friends hit the stage of the Commodore Ballroom for what would become a legacy in this fine city. Raising over $5 million since its inception, this event will surely play a major part in BC’s contribution to diabetes research and ultimately a cure.

Rockin’ for Research has become known as one of the best events of its kind in the city, receiving accolades for its world class cuisine and legendary entertainment.
