Dreaming of a Cure Original Art
2011 Rockin Artwork - "Soar"
Always a coveted item, this inspiring piece of art was created by young, local artists living with type 1 diabetes. Under the direction of well-known Vancouver painter Nicola Morgan, a painter, illustrator, and instructor at Arts Umbrella, these children have created a magnificent piece of original artwork titled "Soar". Each child has made a hand drawn and coloured piece of art to express their hopes and dreams for a cure. An Emily Carr graduate, Nicola works with themes of the narrative as well as colour based images that express feelings of discovery.
Hannah Georgas is a Vancouver-based recording artist that is dedicated to helping JDRF's mission of finding a cure for diabetes through her music. After her father's passing a few years ago due to complications of diabetes, Hannah approached JDRF wanting to make a difference. A portion of the proceeds from her first EP 'The Beat Stuff' were donated to support JDRF. Hannah has shared her talent in a song written especially for the Rockin' for Research Dreamin' of a Cure. This song debuted as we auctioned off this one of a kind art piece. Georgas and her 2010 debut full-length album 'This is Good' have garnered national acclaim and her full-length follow up can be expected in 2012.
